A former senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, has formally declared his intention to contest for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Oloriegbe submitted his official letter of declaration to the APC State Secretariat on Tuesday, 7th April 2026.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the aspirant said his decision to join the race followed months of consultation with his family, party leadership, and stakeholders committed to the development of Kwara State and the APC.

He described his aspiration as a duty call to serve the people of the state.

During the formal declaration, Oloriegbe outlined his vision and readiness for the responsibility, emphasising the signal his candidacy would send to the people of Kwara.

He was received by the APC State Chairman, Prince Sunday Adeniran, and members of the State Working Committee.

According to Oloriegbe, the Chairman acknowledged his consistent support for the party over the years, describing him as a total party man.

The Chairman also noted that Oloriegbe’s achievements in the Senate and other capacities have reflected positively on the party’s image.

Oloriegbe expressed gratitude for the warm reception and called on party members and stakeholders to support him as he begins the journey towards securing the APC governorship ticket.
