In what marks a major turning point in Kwara’s evolving political landscape, Alhaji Tajudeen Audu, popularly known as Makama Lafiagi, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The declaration took place at his Ilorin residence during a high-level meeting with APC stakeholders from Edu Local Government Area, drawing together elected officials, political appointees, party leaders, and community representatives.

In his address, Makama Lafiagi called for unity and collaboration among party members, stressing that sustainable progress can only be achieved when leaders and citizens work together sincerely toward common goals.

He commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, for his administration’s developmental strides and decisive efforts in addressing insecurity across the state.

Makama further urged party stakeholders to intensify voter education and registration campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections, describing grassroots mobilization as crucial to the APC’s continued success in Kwara State.

His declaration was met with a resounding endorsement from the stakeholders, who praised his integrity, loyalty, intellectual maturity, and commitment to public service. They pledged to mobilize widespread grassroots support for his governorship bid across all local government areas of the state.

The meeting was attended by several prominent figures, including Hon. Abdullahi Bello Ndamangoro, Chairman of Edu Local Government; Professor Jibril Saba, Secretary to the State Government; Hon. Shehu Ndanusa Usman, Commissioner for Youth Development; and Hon. Saba Yisa Gideon, Member representing Edu Local Government in the Kwara State House of Assembly.

Others present were Hon. Yakubu, Registrar of the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin; Alhaji Kudu Dumagi, APC Chairman for Edu Local Government alongside all ward chairmen; and Hon. Haruna Likpata, Edu Local Government Development Officer.

Also in attendance were Elder Paul Zhiri, Nda Zhitsu Manuga, the Village Head of Manuga, former Edu Local Government Chairmen Hon. Tsado and Hon. Mohammed Aliyu Labasa, Hon. Likali, and women representatives from each emirate, among other distinguished personalities.

The gathering concluded with a renewed sense of purpose among APC stakeholders in Edu Local Government, who vowed to work collectively to ensure the success of Makama Lafiagi’s 2027 governorship bid and the continued progress of Kwara State.
