Rt. Hon. Mohammed Omar Bio has officially declared his intention to contest for the Governor of Kwara State in 2027.
Under the banner of “Redemption 2027: Together for Change,” the federal lawmaker, who currently chairs the House Committee on Legislative Budget and Research presented himself as a candidate with the rare pedigree of success at both the local government executive level and the National Assembly.
Addressing the crowd on Thursday at the Royal Rock Events Centre Ilorin with a speech titled “A Covenant of Renewal,” Rt. Hon. Bio emphasized his deep roots as a son of the soil and his journey from a trained teacher to a two-term member of the House of Representatives.
“I am not a stranger to governance. I have been tested at the grassroots and trusted at the national level,” He said.
“Leadership is not about position or power, but about touching lives and building a future where every Kwaran can stand tall with dignity.” He added
The core of Bio’s manifesto, which he termed a “Covenant of Renewal,” rests on five interconnected priority areas:
1.Security: Building robust community-based intelligence and vigilante networks to ensure Kwara becomes the shining beacon of safety in the North Central.
2. Energy & Power: Pursuing an aggressive “power revolution” through off-grid solutions and private sector partnerships to end load-shedding.
3. Agriculture: Transforming farming into profitable agribusiness through massive mechanization and irrigation, making Kwara the food basket of the nation.
4. Education (Learning for Empowerment): Restoring Teachers’ Colleges and establishing technical/vocational colleges in all three senatorial districts.
5. Healthcare: Implementing a three-tier system to ensure quality healthcare is a fundamental right for every citizen, regardless of status.
9japarrot reports that the declaration was marked by significant cross-regional support, with elder statesmen from all three senatorial districts delivering goodwill messages.
Speaking on behalf of Kwara North, Sen. Ahmed Mohammed lauded Bio’s consistency and record of interventions in Baruten/Kaiama.
On his part, Elder JB Ayeni, Chairman, Kwara South APC Elders’ Caucus emphasized the candidate’s inclusive nature adding that the region has agreed to support and rally round a northern district candidate for the forthcoming general election.
Kwara Central Elder statesman, Alhaji Ibrahim Yahaya affirmed that Bio’s legislative experience makes him a top-tier contender for the state’s top job and the Senatorial district is ready to support Kwara North 2027 gubernatorial aspirations.
