Having previously represented Kwara Central in the National Assembly, his candidacy brings legislative experience and familiarity with the senatorial district to the contest.

His political realignment has added a new dimension to the 2027 race in Kwara Central, particularly given his previous prominence within the APC and his decision to contest under the PDP platform. His return to the senatorial contest will place his record in the National Assembly, constituency engagement and political evolution under renewed scrutiny.

The 2027 election will therefore be an important test of Mustapha’s ability to retain his political relevance in Kwara Central while building on his experience as a serving senator and translating his new platform into electoral support.
